De Telegraaf ends Sunday edition

Uitgeversmaatschappij De Telegraaf, part of TMG (Telegraaf Media Groep) and publisher of the leading Dutch daily De Telegraaf today announces that it will end the publication of its Sunday edition per 1 January 2010.

Although the Sunday edition has been well appreciated by the readers of De Telegraaf, it did not gain a sufficiently strong position in the market of advertisements (FYI - De Telegraaf is the only newspaper in the Netherlands publishing a Sunday edition). Insufficient advertising revenues combined with relatively high production and distribution costs led to the decision to end the publication. As per January the Friday, Saturday and Monday edition will be strengthened with editorial content now published on Sunday.

Financially the termination of the Sunday edition will result in substantially lower costs next year.
